Wide Band Communication

Wide Band Communication

Wideband communication as the name implies can handle higher bandwidths. DMW link can handle upto 140 Mb i.e. upto 1800 speech channels/64 Kbps data channels. F.O. link can handle 2000 speech channels/64Kbps data chhannels with STM-1 equipment & 8000 speech channels/64Kbps data channels with STM-4 equipment. During the commissioning of Main Load Despatch Centre at Chennai to acquire the large number of speech and data channels converging at Korattur, to Chennai, Analog MicroWave link was established.

Subsequently Sriperumpudur-Chennai and Ingur –Erode MicroWave links were established. Under Unified Load Despatch and Communication (ULDC) scheme a wide band communication Network comprising of 17 Digital MicroWave (DMW) Links and 5 Fibre Optic (F.O) links was established by PGCIL on behalf of TNEB.This is used for the exclusive operation purpose of TNEB. All generating stations , major 400 KV, 230 KV and 110 KV Substations are provided with this facility.

PLCC caters for speech and low speed and low volume data communication and Availability is 99.9%. Even now PLCC has its own stake due to its being most reliable and economical mode of communication for medium and long distance communication having low data traffic. As of now there are nearly 700 carrier sets in service across the state.
